As a professional film composer, producer and singer-songwriter, Ray Hou intends to create music that offers immunity in a world that’s moving too fast. Growing up in Taipei, Taiwan, Ray spent hours in a film composing studio and basked himself in the intrinsic relations between visuals and sound. He at the same time had the daily opportunity to observe vastly different musicians who come in and out of the studio to make music for vastly different films, which contributed immensely to his musical versatility. In 2018, Ray began writing songs whilst gradually starting his career composing for advertisements, indie films, and later on Movies and TV Shows. 

          Now a full-time film composer, producer, and singer-songwriter based in both Taipei and Chicago, Ray has indie and commercial works panning throughout Asia, Europe, and the US. In 2023 alone he has made custom music for brands such as Sony, McDonalds, TGI Fridays, etc. His original score for indie film “A Black Dog by the Reef” was showcased at the Berlin Film Festival; his music for the highly anticipated Netflix Original “Born For The Spotlight” was showcased at the Busan International Film Festival. Ray’s music, however, stretches even farther than large-scale feature films, TV Shows, and advertisements. In 2024 he made custom music for AGT winner Avantgardey, and regularly writes and produces C-Pop for prominent labels in East Asia.

          Ray is currently resides as the Associate Music Director of Shanghai Disney. He had just released his first EP, “I Wake And Remember,” which attempts to emulate an unwavering will against the inevitability of forgetting.
